What are the benefits of yoga?

Yoga is about being present.  Yoga is about listening to your body.  Yoga is about quietening your mind and strengthening your body.

During our yoga practice, we use gentle strengthening, stretching, breathing and relaxation to repair our bodies and mind from the stresses and strains of life.

Yoga is about working with your body.  You do not have to be flexible to do yoga.  You do not have to be young to do yoga.  You do not have to be fit or thin to do yoga.  Yoga is about discovering what you can do today and then exploring that.

If practiced regularly, yoga will strengthen and tone your muscles; yoga will improve the movement of your joints; yoga will improve the quality of your breathing; and yoga will teach you how to relax your body and mind.

The benefits of yoga are many but include:

Increasing energy levels
Improving posture
Easing and preventing back pain
Increasing flexibility and strength
Reducing stiffening of joints
Boosting the immune system
Detox and cleansing
Relieving tension
Relaxing the body and mind
Increasing sense of wellbeing

What should I expect from my yoga teacher?

I will provide you with the space to explore various yoga poses and practices.  I will give direction and guidance to ensure that these poses are performed safely.  I will offer alternative variations to the poses so that they can suit everyone in the class.  I will also provide suggestions to help you deepen your understanding of the pose.

Yoga is for everyone

My yoga classes are suitable for all ages and fitness levels, however, if you have a specific medical condition or injury please consult your doctor about joining a yoga class and let me know before class.
